Global Risk Assessment platform
Fairtrade's Centre of Excellence approached GPM with a unique digital project to create dialogue, collaboration and a change of business practice - a platform to deliver vital tools to help improve people’s living standards and protect the environment.
As pioneers in advancing human rights in business for more than 30 years, Fairtrade's vision was bold and extremely thorough:
- assessing risk in 129 countries
- scoring across 26 indicators
- featuring 10 core salient issues
- profiling 17 commodities
GPM worked closely with the incredible Center of Excellence team over an 8 month period to conceptualize the digital approach, tech stack, mapping requirements, UI/UX, development and content management system integration.
We are thrilled to have designed and developed the 'Risk Map' and to provide Fairtrade and their business partners with a visual atlas to facilitate dialogue with farmers and workers and to help take concrete steps to make global supply chains more sustainable.

Words from our client:
"Thank you so much for excellent collaboration on Fairtrade Risk Map! We are really pleased with how much positive feedback we’ve gained from our stakeholders on its look and feel as well as its contents. Someone even said that it highlights the sustainability problems in global supply chains so clearly that it’ll push forward the whole global discussion about corporate responsibility and accountability!
One of your strengths that I was very impressed with from the beginning of our collaboration was how thoroughly and quickly you understood the aims and aspirations we had for this Map. This clearly paid off at many points later on: the visual and technical solutions you proposed usually felt just right straight away.
I’ve also been impressed with your commitment to high quality. Even with our last change requests – which we really made too late – you went the extra mile to find excellent solutions.
Thanks also for how easy and fun it’s been to work together! It’s quite remarkable how easy it’s been to communicate with you, considering that I’ve been our main contact point and I still have no specialist vocabulary whatsoever for discussing web design or development.
We really look forward to continuing the collaboration and expanding and developing the Risk Map further"
